Suzhou is well-known as a land of attractive resources and a birthplace of gifted talents. Home to the Wu Culture, Suzhou has always beenwell-known as the most prosperous in the southern Yangtze River Delta, andboasts its fabulous classical gardens. It is among the first to be listed as the National Famous Historical and Cultural Cities. Located and deeply rootedin the historic and cultural city of Suzhou and founded over 120 year ago, Soochow University contributes to the development of the city as well. SoochowUniversity is a Key National “Project 211” university, and one of the firstinstitutions selected for “Plan 2011” in China. It is listed into “DoubleFirst-Class” Initiative jointly built by the Ministry of Education and JiangsuProvincial People’s Government. II. ParticipantRequirements 1. Inprinciple, under the age of 40 (born after September 1st, 1980); 2. Forscholars from China: selected by “Four Youth Talent Plans”, e.g. awarded by the“Outstanding Youth of National Science Foundation”, or recipient of similarlevels of recognition for young scholars; 3. For overseas scholars: holder of a doctorate degree from a prestigiousoverseas university, or holder of a doctorate degree from a Chinese universitywith overseas research experience. At least 3 years of consecutive researchexperience abroad is preferred. III. Pay and Benefits SoochowUniversity provides the following pay, relocation subsidiaries , researchsupport funding and necessary office or working space for excellent scholarswho are selected by “Four Youth Talent Plans” or of similar levels ofrecognition: A. Title and Pay 1.Title: Distinguished Professor (permanent title) and doctoral supervisor; 2.Pay: RMB 350,000-600,000 annually (not including insurances and housing fund paid bythe university), related rewards without cap; 3.Relocation: RMB 800,000-1,800,000 (not including subsidiaries provided by thecentral and local governments); fully decorated short-term accommodation. 4.Research Support Funding: RMB 500,000 for scholars in the Humanities andSocial Sciences, RMB 600,000-800,000 for scholars in Non-experimental Sciences,RMB 800,000-2,000,000 for those in Experimental Sciences, Engineering andMedicine (not including national or local support funds). Large-scale equipmentand apparatus may be provided as needed; 5.Otherbenefits include: spatial offices and labs, support for recruiting assistances and establishing research groups, priority for recruiting post-graduatestudents, job and school recommendations for spouse and offspring andconvenient medical care. Successful individual applicants will be funded with RMB 5,000,000,3,000,000, 1,000,000 or 500,000 within 3 years by the provincial government.Successful group applicants will be funded with RMB 3,000,000-8,000,000 within3 years by the provincial government. Successful PhD holders will be fundedwith RMB 150,000 within 2 years by the provincial government. 2.Priority recommendations for applying “Distinguished Professor of Jiangsu Province”. Successful candidates will be awarded RMB 120,000 / year within thethree-year term, and a research fund of RMB 1,000,000 (RMB 2,000,000 forexcellent ones) and 500,000 for natural sciences and liberal arts, respectively. 3.Priority recommendations for applying various talent programs in Suzhou, e.g.“Leading Talents of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Gusu District”, “TalentSubsidy”, “Easier Settling Project”, “Reward for Contribution of OutstandingTalents” and SIP’s “Jinji Lake Talent Plan”. IV. Timeline Thisforum consists of two sections: main forum of the university and sub-forums ofdisciplines. Applications:March 9th - April 7th , 2021.
